ArtsCape is an artist-run initiative in Wynyard, operating on unceded Tommiginner land in Tasmania, Australia. We are for art that tells stories that need to be told, sheds new light on old thinking, or tackles new ideas altogether. We are here to serve and collaborate with artists, creatives and audiences from North West Tasmania and beyond. ArtsCape is an incorporated volunteer-run, not-for-profit organisation. We welcome anyone to join regardless of talent. If you are interested in art forms and are community minded, we welcome you to get in touch to find out how we can become better friends. The Artscape building is provided for by the Waratah Wynyard council. The running of the building and its programs is organised by a group of volunteer committee members. In the heart of Wynyard you will find a small building with a big heart. ArtsCape provides a space for local artists and groups to gather and meet. ArtsCape is the umbrella under which many creative and community members can bring together their own sub communities. ArtsCape can assist with exhibitions, space share, supporting emerging artists and their work. Anyone is welcome to enter ArtsCape's doors and participate in Wynyard's home of community and its arts. First started as an idea from one person in 2007, ArtsCape has grown into a vibrant arts community supported by a strong committee. We have a beautifully maintained building centrally located to the township of Wynyard. ArtsCape is used by artists and community members alike. Many and varied groups, individuals and events have hosted their programs under our roof. We pride ourselves on being open to all community projects and strongly encourage anyone to contact us for support in setting up their own exhibition, group or event. Exhibition Events ArtsCape provides a warm gallery space with a hanging system and tracking lights. Our members will provide assistance to those wishing to hang their first or their one hundred and first exhibition. ArtsCape can assist with hanging, opening nights and manning the gallery. Please get in contact to start planning your exhibition today. Groups and Building Hire Within the walls of ArtsCape you will find various rooms in which to host your own group, workshop or events. The space lends itself better to smaller functions and can be viewed to assess its workability to your plans. |
From the BEGINNING |
Where we are now |
ArtsCape first opened in 2006 in a small building located near Gutteridge Gardens.
The building was used as a trial for the larger idea of setting up gallery space and an arts community in the region. Two years later we occupied the building in Jackson Street where the hard working committee has been renovating and bringing events to the community ever since. |
We are an incorporated not for profit entity and work solely on the back of our generous volunteers and committee members.
We are always open to new members and fresh ideas from the wider community. It is a great time to become part of the community and contribute to your local art centre. |
